Dress Code

Dress Code

These Dress Code Guidelines should be followed at all times. These guidelines are put in place to show respect to our studio and dance family! When attending or leaving class, you must wear a cover-up. No one should be walking outside in just a leotard and tights! Mid-drift (STOMACHS)must be covered at all times. Gentlemen, please check with your teacher to be sure your attire is appropriate.

Limited dance supplies are available for sale at the studio.

Proper Ballet Attire
  • Leotard in a solid color
  • Pink Tights (NO holes or runs!!!)
  • Pink Ballet Shoes or Pointe Shoes
  • If you need extra support, either wear a secondary black leotard, a nude leotard, or a nude dance bra with clear straps (all of these could be bought at a dance store)
  • Hair should be properly secured back into a bun… with hair pins!
  • No jewelry, watches, or gum. (Stud earrings are allowed)
  • Ballet skirts may be worn (must be ballet skirts)
  • Dance shorts may be worn only during Female time.

Proper Attire for Other Dance Classes
  • Dress code Leotard (depending on your class level) or Black leotard
  • Pink Tights (NO holes or runs!!!)
  • Proper Dance Shoes: Jazz Booties for Jazz, Tap Shoes for Tap, Modern and Contemporary check with teacher
  • Fitted cover ups may be worn in some of these classes. You should ask your instructor to make sure.
  • Hair should be secured tightly, either in a bun. A Ponytail may be worn for Hip Hop. A bun or French braids should be worn for all other classes.
  • No jewelry, watchers, or gum.

All dancers should put on a cover-up before leaving the building. This is not only to keep your body warm but also to exercise modesty and respect for yourself and others.

Pointe Shoe Policy

Remember, pointe shoes should never be given to children or young dancers who have not been instructed to purchase a pair.
They are not toys; they are an important (and beautiful) piece of dance equipment.

The health and safety of our dancers is our highest priority. Being strong and well-trained gives our dancers the ability to express themselves creatively in the dance. When a dancer progresses to dancing in pointe shoes, the need for safety is even greater. Poorly-fitted pointe shoes will not only discourage a young dancer and cause unnecessary pain, but will also increase the chance of injury.
